In Bucks, the Durham CEM 11+ style has now been adopted. There will be two 45 minute tests taken at the beginning of Year 6. Subjects to be tested are English/Verbal Reasoning – 50%, Numerical Reasoning – 30% and Non-Verbal Reasoning – 20%. As with all types of tests, children benefit a great deal from not only question familiarisation practice but also from being in a test situation in a hall with other children. Experiencing a similar scenario beforehand will help to alleviate the stress and panic of an otherwise new and potentially intimidating situation.
With this in mind, during August each year I run weekly intensive 11+ courses. It will be possible for your child to attend one or any combination of weekly courses as each one stands alone and the question content is different. Each week is made up of 5 mornings, from 9.30 - 12.30 at Frieth Village Hall (RG96PR). There will be a maximum of 16 student places available in any one week and these will be offered firstly to present students and then to the general public. There will be 2 experienced, qualified teachers attending each session. A drink and biscuit will be available at break time and all materials will be supplied. Homework will be given to be completed for the next day.
