As you may know, the Bucks 11+ Secondary Transfer Tests are now being set by a new provider, GL Assessment. The first test by this provider will be taken in September 2018 by children who are moving up to secondary school in September 2019. There will be two tests, as before, each of approximately 45 minutes in length. The papers will not now be completely mixed. The first paper will be English/VR, constituting 50% of the marks, and the second will assess Maths and NVR, each having a 25% weighting. The type and level of the content will remain the same.
This August, I will be running three intensive 11+ courses, which will aim to consolidate each body of knowledge – English/VR, Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning - and to give each child the experience of a test situation with other children in Frieth Village Hall.
It will be possible for your child to attend one or any combination of weekly courses as each one stands alone and the question content is different. Each week is made up of 5 mornings, from 9.30 – 12.30 at Frieth Village Hall. There will be a maximum of 16 student places available in any one week and these will be offered firstly to present students and then to the general public. There will be 2 experienced, qualified teachers attending each session, myself and Mrs Kim McLaughlin, who is a serving deputy head. Refreshments will be available at break time and all materials will be supplied. Homework will be given to be completed for the next day and I do require a level of commitment, both from parent and child, if the course is to achieve maximum benefit for each individual.
